The UK audit sector is on the brink of a massive transformation. Three inquiries into the sector following a number of high profile corporate failures including Carillion, BHS and Patisserie Valerie, have set out a new roadmap for the sector to beef up its oversight of companies.
This discussion will look at the reasons for the changes, what they will mean for companies, their auditors, and government bodies that oversee them, and how technology can be used to unlock efficiencies in this new environment.
This webinar will explore how the three reviews will together combine to remake the sector, and how companies should be preparing for the changes – and how technology can help.
Discussion topics will include:
Why reform of the sector is needed
How will the changes, including the creation of the government’s Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority, affect how companies report their financial results?
How can the new regime help auditors and companies use technology to become more effective in the prevention and detection of material fraud and improve communication and transparency?
How the regulator use its new powers to avoid repeats of high-profile corporate failures like Carillion, BHS and Patisserie Valerie?
How can regulation of audit firms encourage good practice and punish poor corporate performance, and use data to keeps on top of the companies it regulates?
What can ARGA learn from other regulators in taking on additional powers and being respected by the sector it regulates?
The discussion will take place on 15th October from 11:00 to 13:00
