Welcome to the Era of Agentic AI: Unmissable Insights from PPCC 2025
David Reid, Pre-Sales Solution Architect & Anna Black, Lead Functional Consultant
The Microsoft Power Platform Community Conference 2025 in Las Vegas was more than just a showcase of the latest innovations from Microsoft – it was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the unstoppable momentum of AI-powered innovation.
With over 7,000 attendees, game-changing announcements, and a community vibe that felt more festival than conference, PPCC 2025 proved why the Power Platform is the beating heart of digital transformation. It was amazing to be there to represent the Hitachi Solutions UK team, to make connections with our colleagues from across the pond, as well as connect with friends, customers, partners and Microsoft – the energy and passion for the platform was electric.
Whether you’re a business leader, creator, or technology professional, here’s why this event matters – and what it means for you.
Key Announcements: The Era of Agentic AI
- AI-First App Creation: “Low Code is Dead (as we know it)”: Microsoft’s new Plan Designer for Power Apps lets you build solutions simply by describing your business challenge in plain English. AI agents – Requirements, Data, Code, and Solution – work together to turn your intent into a working app, drastically reducing manual effort. I particularly loved the persona-centred approach to app creation, collaborating with AI agents on creating a solution. Development is now a conversation, not a chore.
- App Builder & Workflows in Microsoft 365 Copilot: Create business apps and automate workflows directly inside Teams, Outlook, or SharePoint – no separate studio, no code required. The new App Builder and Workflows agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot let you “chat” your ideas to life, making app creation and automation accessible to everyone, everywhere. I love the ability to connect to your organisational data to draw insights into powerful agents for your team.
- Copilot Studio: Enterprise-Ready AI Agents: Copilot Studio now offers advanced lifecycle tools – automated testing, analytics dashboards, and granular governance – so organisations can deploy trustworthy, compliant AI agents at scale. Custom agents can even surface natively in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, bringing intelligent assistance into everyday productivity.
- Power Automate Gets Smarter : “Record with Copilot” lets you build desktop automations by simply demonstrating tasks, while natural language flow creation bridges modern and legacy systems. AI-generated actions orchestrate complex processes, lowering the barrier for everyone to automate work. I love that Copilot Studio is becoming the orchestration layer for agentic AI – not just chatbots but almost any kind of automation including smart AI computer-using agents (CUA) and agent-to-agent orchestrations, as well as my personal favourite of building deep domain-level AI in Azure AI Foundry. Watch this space as more interoperability features roll out!
- Fabric & OneLake: Data Without Boundaries : Microsoft Fabric and OneLake unify data from Microsoft Dataverse, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and on-premises systems – no ETL required. Now, you can “chat with your data” and get live, contextual insights wherever you work, powered by Fabric Data Agents. It was great to see the emphasis on the Fabric capabilities at the conference, I’ve long felt it is the natural extension of Dataverse – for pooling datasets for AI reasoning, predictive workloads and insights.
The Community Vibe: Makers, Momentum & Magic
PPCC 2025 wasn’t just about technology – it was about people. The atmosphere was electric, with a private concert by Christina Aguilera, an AI agent mega-hackathon, and spontaneous networking that felt more like a festival than a conference. Makers, MVPs, IT leaders, and partners mingled, shared hacks, and celebrated the “maker era” – where anyone can build, automate, and innovate with AI.
Hitachi Solutions was front and centre, strengthening global brand visibility, connecting with strategic customers (including UK public sector leaders), and deepening collaboration across regions. Our team brought back not just insights, but real business outcomes – new leads, enhanced credibility, and a unified delivery model that positions us as a trusted partner for Microsoft and our clients.
