Hitachi Solutions Aligns Strategy to Mission-Driven Government and The Plan for Change

Hitachi Solutions Europe strengthens its focus on government with a new strategy designed to drive sustainable, human-centric transformation and efficiency in public services. 

Hitachi Solutions Europe, part of Hitachi Solutions Ltd., is a core member of the Information & Telecommunication Systems business of Hitachi Group, a recognised leader in delivering business and IT solutions. London, UK, 20th March 2025 – Hitachi Solutions Europe has reinforced its commitment to the UK government with a new strategy and leadership appointments designed to meet the evolving needs of government digital services.

As a leading Microsoft partner, Hitachi Solutions is strengthening its capabilities to help UK government departments navigate unprecedented change, drive efficiencies, and deliver high-impact, human-centric digital transformation. To support this focus, Emma Charles and Jamie Watson have been appointed as Government Industry Director and Government Commercial Director, respectively.

At the core of this strategy is Hitachi Solutions’ ‘Human-Centric by Default’ approach, ensuring that digital transformation is designed around the needs of humans—both government employees and citizens. By integrating research, change management, training, and testing as core components of its solutions, Hitachi Solutions ensures technology adoption is intuitive, effective, and aligned to real-world government challenges.

As part of this strategy, Hitachi Solutions has established a dedicated UK Government Pod, bringing together its central and local government expertise into a cohesive function. The launch of this strategic focus comes at a pivotal time for government.

The start of 2025 has seen the rollout of major initiatives such as the Procurement Act 2023, the AI Opportunities Action Plan, AI Playbook, and the integration of the Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) into the Government Digital Service (GDS). These initiatives, preluding the ‘Digital and AI Roadmap’ to be published in summer, signify the government’s recognition of the critical importance of technology and collaboration within the private sector in delivering enhanced public services.
